Our History

Vince Miceli started the company in 1955 by selling used desks and chairs from his garage. He later moved to a small store front on Walnut Street in Des Plaines and became an agent for Olivetti Calculators and later Underwood Typewriters. This moved the company into the office equipment world.

In the 1970’s DPOE began carrying the Sharp copier line and continues to supply the Chicago area with Sharp’s innovative products. Since 1986, Chip (president) and Victor (vice president) have provided the second generation of company leadership and maintained the family owned and operated reputation. Beginning in 1989 DPOE has received Sharp’s highest award, The Hyakuman Kai, annually.

Des Plaines Office Equipment later extended their product line by adding Oki Data and Kyocera Printers which took them into the networking solutions business. Document Management Solutions were then added with programs such as Intact, Sharp Software and Laserfiche, to name a few. DPOE continued to expand by adding a networking team dedicated to installing and servicing multifunction devices throughout Chicago and the suburbs and also providing networking, software, and IT support.
